THREE BENEFITS OF BEING A NEW CREATION

July 30, 2024

Therefore if anyone is  in Christ,  this person is  a new  creation;  the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB 2020

1. YOU ARE SAVED. Christianity is not just another world religion or a bunch of formal religious duties. It is a divine rescue. Colossians 1:13 says that God “rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.” This freedom we receive comes at the high cost of Jesus suffering and dying as a substitute to pay the penalty for the sin that separated us from God. Now, our citizenship is in heaven. We are not of this world; we are spiritual people having a human experience. God has purposes planned for each and every one of us while we are on this journey and we are anointed by the Holy Spirit!

In humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21b

2. YOUR MIND BECOMES RENEWED.
Walking with God changes you from the inside. In theology, there are two ways of thinking about what makes up each person: I believe in a trichotomy, which is spirit, soul, and body. Some people believe only in a dichotomy – the outer person and the inner person. I am convinced both are true, but that there is a division and distinction between spirit and soul. First, we get saved, and our spirits become alive to God, but then there needs to be a deliberate process called mind renewal. The soul of a human being is the  mind, emotions, and will. The book of Romans tells us not to be conformed to this crazy, bizarre, superficial world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we may figure out God’s specific will for each one of our lives (Romans 12:2). This is why I encourage you to read your Bible which saves your soul (mind, will, and emotions).

And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24

3. YOU ARE HEALED.
Jesus suffered and died on our behalf so that we could be forgiven and healed. He bore our sicknesses. He fulfilled the prophecy in the book of Isaiah that said, “By his scourging we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). “He Himself took our infirmities and carried away our diseases” (Matthew 8:17). What this wonderful new creation life boils down to is that we are now dead to sin and alive to God in so many wonderful ways. Say this: “I am saved, my mind is renewed, and I am healed by Jesus’ stripes.” Carry this new creation truth into your world this week. When driving in the car, thank God for saving, renewing, and healing you. At work, pray that the hearts of those around you will open to these saving truths. Get in the Bible and meditate on these scriptures so much that they overflow into your life.

DAILY CONFESSION:

Since Jesus has become my Lord, I am covered and forgiven. God’s grace sustains me. I am a new creation, a new species of being. I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. By my God, I can run through a troop and leap over a wall. I am more than a conqueror. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. By Jesus’ stripes, I am healed. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Deuteronomy 28:13; Psalm 18:29; Romans 8:37; 1 John 4:4; Isaiah 53:5)
