THE CURE FOR WORRY AND ANXIETY

November 9, 2022

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

1. WATCH YOUR WORDS. Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). If we guard our mouths, we can actually guard our soul from trouble and worry (Proverbs 21:23). We will have to give account for every careless word we speak (Matthew 12:36-37). So, let’s carefully consider our words, and speak life instead of worry and fear.

“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:31-33

2. STUDY GOD’S WORD. What goes in is what comes out of us. The best way to keep our mouths from pouring out worry and fear is by filling our hearts with the Word of God. As you prioritize and seek first the kingdom of God, the things you need will be added to you. Get solid on the promises of God and let His peace fill your heart and mind.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

3. YOU CAN TRUST GOD. Worrying about tomorrow is futile and yet we get so tempted to do it. Jesus, in Matthew 6, reminds us in a big way that God is our provider and we are to look to Him to take care of every area of our lives. You don’t have to worry about the small stuff – it’s all small stuff to God. He is so reliable and He is so faithful. Let Him take care of your life.
