THE BENEFITS OF KNOWING GOD

October 11, 2024

Thus says the Lord, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23-24

1. YOU GET TO DO THINGS GOD’S WAY. My words fall short of describing how precise, flawless, and beautiful God’s ways are. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). As David wrote in Psalms, “Make me know Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths” (Psalm 25:4). Jeremiah said, “I know, O Lord, that a man’s way is not in himself, nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23). There is merit in personal development and education. I endeavor to be a lifelong learner. But, as Jeremiah pointed out, the essence of our human existence can be found only in a relationship with God.

See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. 1 John 3:1-2

2. YOU ARE PART OF GOD’S KINGDOM AND CULTURE.
The world does not even understand the culture of the kingdom of God. He said I’m giving you a spirit that the world can’t give. I give you a peace that the world can’t give. The new birth is not just philosophical rhetoric or another part of the heap of endless mythology. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father but through Him (John 14:6). Yet whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). Jesus is our wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the prince of peace and there will be no end to His kingdom (Isaiah 9:6-7).

3. YOUR TIMES ARE IN HIS HANDS.
God has perfect timing. He created time, and His creative skills are impeccable. He has made everything appropriate and beautiful in its time. There is a time to speak. There is a time to be silent. There is a time to pray. There is a time to take action. There is a time to sleep. There is a time to rise up (Ecclesiastes 3:1-11). I encourage you to make the most of your time like Noah did in his life because the days are harsh (Matthew 24:37-39).  If you are driving to work, pray the whole time. If you are getting ready to go to bed, just put your head on the pillow, be grateful for what God has brought you through, and anticipate that tomorrow, He will bring you forth with joy (Isaiah 55:12).

PRAY THIS PRAYER
God, thank you for answering my prayer. This is the confidence which I have in You, God, that if I ask anything according to Your will, You hear me. And since I know You hear me when I make my requests, I also know that You will give me what I ask for, in Jesus’ Name, amen!

God bless you,
Pastor Jeff Perry
