SONGS OF DELIVERANCE
March 17, 2023You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.
Psalm 32:7
1. SING GOD’S WORD. Throughout history, the Jewish people would put music to these psalms. I’ve heard this done, and I’ll even do it myself – I’ll take God’s powerful Word and turn it into a melody. “Your statutes are my songs in the house of my pilgrimage” (Psalm 119:54).
But about midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Acts 16:25
2. SING IN THE DARKEST HOUR. Midnight in this verse signifies that we haven’t seen the light of sunshine for a while, and we’re not anticipating it anytime soon. So, what do we do in these dark moments? Paul and Silas are singing praises to God in the middle of their troubles. As they were singing, suddenly there was an earthquake, and all the doors flew open, and their chains fell off (Acts 16:26). If you read this whole passage of Scripture, you’ll see the steps of breakthrough that ended with the jailer being so moved that he and his entire household were saved!
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear and will trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:3
3. SING YOUR SONGS TO THE LORD. Whatever is weighing on you, whatever’s trying to keep you from singing praises and being thankful, remember there is something so good on the other side of your midnight hour. Push past the gloom and fear of it by singing praises to God – find Scriptures and sing His Word to Him, sing thanks to Him of past victories in your life, find praise and worship songs that minister to you and sing those out. Let your circumstances be surrounded with songs of deliverance, and watch what happens!
Press on!

PRAY THIS PRAYER:
God, I thank You for Your word. Thank You for Your presence. Right now, I get up, open my mouth, and praise You – even if I don’t feel like it. I worship You. In the name of Jesus, I break the bonds and chains that are holding me back. I kick the doors open, and I will persevere and move forward in Your power – in Jesus’ name, amen!
