FOCUSED ON JESUS
November 9, 2024For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 2 Chronicles 16:9a
1. TURN YOUR HEART TO JESUS. As a young couple, Patsy and I had to learn to prioritize going on dates where we focused and loved on each other. Just as that is essential in a marriage, we must intentionally spend time with God. In the Bible, God commended the Ephesian church for their good deeds and perseverance, but He said, “I have this against you, that you have left your first love” (Revelation 2:4). Let’s remember the why of what we do – Jesus – and turn our hearts to Him.
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
2. START YOUR DAY WITH JESUS. Today God wants us to regroup and spend time on what matters most. The stakes are high – people need you to be connected to God and they need the Jesus you know. If you’ve been busy and haven’t spent time with Jesus like you want to, you can connect with Him right now. He’s available. Start setting aside time to spend with God and read your Bible at the start of your day.
3. TODAY IS A NEW BEGINNING IN JESUS. Whatever life stage you are in, God has new beginnings and seasons of refreshing up ahead. If you feel broken, turn to Jesus right now and let Him restore you. Jonah, even when he was lost, lifted up his eyes to God, and God got him back into His will. The times when I’ve been away from fervency toward God, He has never wavered in His love for me – He is faithful all the time. And in Him, old things pass away and new things have come (2 Corinthians 5:17).
PRAY THIS PRAYER:
God, I turn my heart toward You right now. I fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith, and I set aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles and I run with endurance the race set before me (Hebrews 12:1-2). I love You! Amen.
God bless you,
Pastor Jeff Perry
