FAITH AND PATIENCESTEPS TO INHERITING GOD’S PROMISES
July 12, 2024In order that you may not grow disinterested and become [spiritual] sluggards, but imitators, behaving as do those who through faith (by their leaning of the entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) and by practice of patient endurance and waiting are [now] inheriting the promises. Hebrews 6:12 AMPC
1. RELY COMPLETELY ON GOD. Faith and patience are two of the master keys to our lives, and they work together to get us to the fulfillment of God’s promises. Faith, as the Amplified translation describes it, is leaning your entire personality on the Lord in absolute trust. It goes along with the practice of patient endurance and waiting. Think about the things you have pushed through to get to this point. God sees you and will not forget your work of faith, your labor of love, and your steadfastness of hope (Hebrews 6:10; 1 Thessalonians 1:3). They are precious to him. Faith and patience are vital commodities in the realm of the spirit. God takes them and does great things.
2. PUSH THROUGH OBSTACLES. It is so important to be diligent and determined not to give up and keep going so you can realize the full assurance of hope (Hebrews 6:11). That’s why we must stay focused completely on God and what He said. In the Bible, there was a woman who was sick for twelve years. She heard of Jesus and pushed through the crowd surrounding Him, telling herself if she could touch the hem of His clothing, she would get something from heaven. She did just that and was healed, and Jesus commended her for her faith (Mark 5:25-34). God will open doors and bring blessing as you stay diligent and determined. (Proverbs 10:4; 22:29).
Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. Hebrews 10:35-36
3. DON’T QUIT – BETTER THINGS ARE AHEAD. The devil will try to hinder us in some areas, and we must resist. Paul wrote about wanting to get somewhere, but Satan hindered him (1 Thessalonians 2:18). But sometimes, there are divine delays while we wait for God’s perfect timing, so we must develop faith and patience. The writer of Hebrews had a sense that breakthroughs and blessings were up ahead for the people he wrote to (Hebrews 6:9). God tells us not to throw away our confidence, which has a great reward. When you see things from God’s perspective, you realize you don’t have to manage your expectations. He has big supernatural plans for you. So, stick with it. Don’t throw in the towel or back off for a millisecond. You have more endurance than you realize. We are not of those who shrink back but of those who inherit God’s promises through faith and patience (Hebrews 10:39; 6:12).
PRAY THIS PRAYER:
It’s through faith and patience I am inheriting God’s promises. I love Jesus because He first loved me. I surrender my heart to Him – no turning back. My whole household shall be saved. My body is staying healthy. Sickness and disease have to flee in the presence of the Lord. By Jesus’ stripes, I am healed, from the top of my head through the soles of my feet. God, stir my heart in the direction of obedience. Help me not to get callous, hardhearted, or bitter. I can overcome whatever is thrown at me because Jesus is my Lord. He lives big in me. Amen! (Hebrews 6:12; 1 John 4:19; Acts 16:31; Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24)
