HOW TO MAKE WISE DECISIONS

He [God] raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.”
Acts 13:22b

1. DEVELOP A LIFESTYLE OF KNOWING GOD. Before becoming king or writing any of the psalms, David was simply someone yearning to know the Creator. David carried that love for God through the course of his life. He went to God when things were great and when they were complex. He went to God when he failed and then repented. God is inviting all of us into that close relationship with Him.

2. ASK GOD BEFORE MAKING A DECISION. When David needed specific direction about how to lead his country, he “inquired of the Lord” (1 Samuel 23:2). And when David asked, God answered with specific direction on what to do. Instead of doing our own thing and going on autopilot with our decision-making, it’s way better to seek God and get His plan.

For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes. 2 Corinthians 1:20a

3. STUDY THE BIBLE SO YOU CAN KNOW GOD’S PROMISES. We go to the Bible to find the promises and provisions God has made for us because when we pray according to God’s Word, the answer is yes. Find out what God’s promises are in the Bible and hold to them for your own life.

4. PRAY ALL THE TIME ABOUT EVERYTHING. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything” (Philippians 4:6a NLT). You can cover everything in your life with prayer, including your relationships, bank accounts, or alarming symptoms in your body. The Bible says to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Our cars can become prayer closets. A walk down the driveway becomes a prayer walk. When we are at work, our duties can only be enhanced by praying as we go about them. Let your heart turn toward God in prayer in every situation and watch Him work on your behalf!

PRAY THIS PRAYER:
God, I want to be a person after Your heart and do Your will. So many things are vying for my attention, but I put my eyes on You (2 Chronicles 20:12). When I need wisdom, I know You give it to me (James 1:5). In all my ways, I acknowledge You, and You direct my path (Proverbs 3:6). Thank You for your help, God. I love You. I pray all this in Jesus’ Name, amen.
